Comprehensive lab test readings through the Functional medicine lens

Did your blood tests come back normal, but you just don’t feel right?

This is actually a very common experience, which typically results from the way conventional blood testing is interpreted. It’s not uncommon for people to start feeling unwell long before the markers on a blood test moves outside the traditional ‘normal’ range.

Even though you’ve been told everything looks great, your test results may be far from being what is considered physiologically optimal, or healthy.

One piece of the puzzle of your health is what we cannot see but that we can measure.

It can be highly inspiring and motivating to understand what your body is trying to do from the inside. Some every day blood tests can let us know if you are dehydrated, if you have an ongoing inflammation, allergy or asthma. We can find out why you feel tired of why you have body pains. We can get a lot of insight on your digestion and absorption.

We advise a yearly blood test that can be prescribe from your GP.

I also have a protocol on how to get the best representative blood tests.

Test don't guess

Have you checked your Vitamin D

Did you know that vitamin D is a hormone? And as hormones dance in a soup interacting with one an other what happens when you up regulate your vitamin D levels?

Vitamin D needs magnesium to convert into its final form. Hence my clients taking high levels of vit D are often suffering from cramping. + Vit D and A use the same transport so high levels of one decreases the level of the other. High level of vitamin D is also immunosuppressant and beneficial for AI or cancer but definitely not good for long term use.

Dehydration

High levels of HGL with BUN and albumin are often not a sign of red blood cells sufficiency but a sign of dehydration!

Blood sugar

Have you ever checked your fasting glucose level and been told it is high or ok. If it is high you will think that decreasing your sugar intake is the solution. But more often than not it is not!

As fasting glucose really measure your morning cortisol awakening response not your dietary sugar. You really need to check your fasting insulin and H-A1C or C-Peptide to have an idea of the real blood sugar load. It is also rarely linked to the amount of cookies you eat but more often to chronic stress!
